Grade 11 - English

ENG3U - Grade 11 English focuses on enhancing literacy, communication, and critical and creative thinking skills essential for academic and everyday success. Students will examine challenging literary works from different periods, countries, and cultures, as well as various informational and graphic texts, and create oral, written, and media texts in multiple forms. A key emphasis will be on using language accurately and clearly and effectively incorporating stylistic devices. This course is designed to prepare students for the mandatory Grade 12 university or college preparation course.
Prerequisite: English, Grade 10, Academic.

Grade 12 - English

ENG4U - Grade 12 English focuses on enhancing literacy, communication, and critical and creative thinking skills essential for academic and everyday success. Students will explore a variety of challenging literary texts from different periods, countries, and cultures; interpret and assess informational and graphic texts; and produce oral, written, and media texts in diverse formats. A key emphasis will be on using academic language clearly and confidently, choosing the most appropriate reading strategies for different texts and purposes, and improving writing skills. This course aims to prepare students for university, college, or the workplace.

SCH3U

Grade 11 - Chemistry

SCH3U - Grade 11 Chemistry allows students to expand their knowledge of chemistry by exploring the properties of chemicals and chemical bonds, chemical reactions and their quantitative relationships, solutions and solubility, and atmospheric chemistry including gas behavior. Students will enhance their analytical skills and examine both the qualitative and quantitative properties of matter, as well as the societal and environmental impacts of common chemical reactions.
Prerequisite: Science, Grade 10, Academic.

Grade 12 - Chemistry

SCH4U - Grade 12 Chemistry allows students to deepen their understanding of chemistry by studying organic chemistry, the structure and properties of matter, energy changes and reaction rates, chemical equilibrium, and electrochemistry. Students will further enhance their problem-solving and investigative skills while exploring chemical processes and improve their ability to communicate scientific information. The course emphasizes the significance of chemistry in daily life and the evaluation of the environmental impact of chemical technology.

SPH3U

Grade 11 - Physics

SPH3U - Grade 11 Physics builds students' understanding of fundamental physics concepts. Students will study kinematics, focusing on linear motion, various types of forces, energy transformations, the properties of mechanical waves and sound, as well as electricity and magnetism. They will improve their scientific investigation skills by testing physics laws. Additionally, students will analyze the connections between physics and technology and evaluate the societal and environmental impact of technological applications of physics.

SPH4U

Grade 12 - Physics

SPH4U - Grade 12 Physics allows students to deepen their understanding of physics concepts and theories. They will further explore energy transformations, forces affecting motion, and investigate electrical, gravitational, and magnetic fields, as well as electromagnetic radiation. The course also covers the wave nature of light, quantum mechanics, and special relativity. Students will enhance their scientific investigation skills, learning to analyze data both qualitatively and quantitatively in relation to various physics concepts and principles. Additionally, they will consider the societal and environmental impact of technological applications of physics.

Grade 11 - Biology

SBI3U - Grade 11 Biology deepens students' understanding of biological system processes. Students will explore theory and conduct investigations in biodiversity, evolution, genetic processes, animal structure and function, and plant anatomy, growth, and function. Grade 12 - Biology

Grade 11 - Functions

MCR3U - Grade 11 Functions introduces students to the mathematical concept of functions by building on their knowledge of linear and quadratic relations. Students will explore properties of discrete and continuous functions, including trigonometric and exponential functions. They will represent functions numerically, algebraically, and graphically, solve problems involving function applications, investigate inverse functions, and develop skills in determining equivalent algebraic expressions. Throughout the course, students will reason mathematically and communicate their thought processes while solving multi-step problems.

MDM4U 

Grade 12 - Data Management

MDM4U - Grade 12 Mathematics of Data Management expands students' understanding of mathematics in the context of data management. Students will learn methods for organizing and analyzing large datasets, solve problems involving probability and statistics, and complete a culminating investigation that integrates statistical concepts and skills. They will also enhance their mathematical processes needed for success in senior mathematics. MHF4U

Grade 12 - Advanced Functions

MHF4U - Grade 12 Advanced Functions builds on students' knowledge of functions. They will explore the properties of polynomial, rational, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions, develop techniques for combining functions, expand their understanding of rates of change, and improve their application of these concepts and skills. The course also enhances the mathematical processes essential for success in senior mathematics. It is designed for students planning to take the Calculus and Vectors course as a prerequisite for university programs, as well as for those who wish to strengthen their mathematical understanding before entering various university programs.
Prerequisite: Functions, Grade 11, University Preparation, or Mathematics for College Technology, Grade 12, College Preparation.

MCV4U

Grade 12 - Calculus and Vectors 

MCV4U - Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors builds upon students’ prior experience with functions and their developing understanding of rates of change. Students will solve problems involving geometric and algebraic representations of vectors, as well as representations of lines and planes in three-dimensional space. They will expand their comprehension of rates of change to include derivatives of polynomial, sinusoidal, exponential, rational, and radical functions, and apply these concepts to model real-world relationships. The course also focuses on refining the mathematical processes essential for success in senior mathematics. This course is designed for students pursuing careers in fields such as science, engineering, economics, and certain areas of business, including those who will need to take university-level calculus, linear algebra, or physics courses.
Prerequisite: Advanced Functions (MHF4U) must be completed before or concurrently with Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U).
